AMD Rolls Outs New Catalyst 14.9.1 Beta
Specifically speaking, on various software and hardware configurations, AMD’s September release caused the installation to crash or hang, and in the event where the wizard managed to apply the driver, rebooting the system would end up in a black screen or BSOD error.
Besides the aforementioned issues, the present beta update also resolves the CCC intermittent crashes, as well as the occasional hang events when launching Sniper Elite 3 with quad Crossfire.
In addition to that, version 14.9.1 beta fixes two more problems that caused the system to hang or encounter a BSOD error when enabling/disabling quad Crossfire or launching Battlefield 4 in quad Crossfire.
When it comes to compatibility, the latest Catalyst release can be applied on computers running one of the supported graphics chipsets (detailed on the description page), as well as powered by either the 32- or 64-bit variant of Microsoft’s Windows 7 or 8.1 operating systems.
However, don’t forget that the present update is still a beta driver provided “AS IS” and under AMD’s EULA terms and conditions. Also, if you apply the driver, make sure to reboot the system upon completion to ensure all changes take effect properly.
