Multi-GPU Support with Mixed GPU Architectures
When using multiple GPUs in the same system, Fermi GPUs cannot be used with Kepler or Maxwell GPUs. The reason is that Fermi GPUs use the WDDM 1.3 driver model, while Kepler and Maxwell GPUs use WDDM 2.0.
In a multi-GPU system, the primary graphics card determines the WDDM version usedby all other cards in the system. The non-primary graphics cards must use the sameWDDM driver model, otherwise it will be inoperable. The Device Manager will show the error as a yellow bang next to the affected display adapter.
Beginning with driver release R358, Fermi GPUs will use WDDM 2.0.
